Notes
Poorly differentiated sqaumous cell carcinoma: The tumor is composed of focal nests of malignant cells with marked desmoplastic reaction and extensive fibrous elements. The tumor cells have high nuclear to cytoplasmic ratio, some of the tumor cells show spindle cell appearance and focal areas of clear cell pattern was also noted. In poorly-differentiated SCC, immature cells predominate, with numerous typical and atypical mitoses, no keratinization, and and foci of necrosis.
Moderate amount of inflammatory infiltrate primarily composed of plasma cells and lymphocytes are noted.
