Notes
Well to moderately differentiated adenocarcinoma of colon. Cribriform glands are noted are scattered through out the tumor sections as clustered islands. Tumor cells appear elongated, with overlapping morphology. The center of the glands consist of mucin and necrotic debris consisting of nuclear fragments ie dirty necrosis. There is occasional mitotic figures noted, indicating a highly proliferating tumor. Mucinous component is prominent in some areas. There is also presence of stromal component, which is primarily composed of fibroblasts and some inflammatory cells. Compared to the originator samples, there is marked decrease in stromal elements.
